This was yoinked from a less sfw version, so I had to change it a bit, but here's the...

HOST CLUB/BUTLER AND MAID CAFE MEME

Do you have the gift of gab? Then a host(ess) club is the place for you! Here, men and women come to pay for conversation and company of beautiful, interesting people. It's all the rage for the new generation of singles, who enjoy the no-strings-attached atmosphere of "buying a date."

Welcome back, master! Maid cafes are for those who desire their own little french maid (though "maid" is gender neutral here), complete with costume. The waiters and waitresses here make sure the customers are satisfied to the absolute best of their abilities, no matter what their tastes may be. So don a frilly dress and grab a pair of cat ears, because the masters and mistresses have arrived! (read more here)

Here's something for the true romantics among us. Butler cafes are the newest craze in Japan, and are quite the novelty as the most popular one hires only handsome Western men (though the Hotel is not quite as picky). In these cafes, women who desire it are given the full Cinderella treatment, complete with being addressed as "princess" and getting their own tiaras. The waiters here are true fairy tale princes. Of course, the men can desire the princess treatment and women the butler role, so here, nothing is bound by gender. Enjoy your stay, my princess. (read more here)

[N's never really done anything like this before, but all the cute colors and such seem to have caught his interest at some point, because he's approaching, eyeing the place curiously.]

[Spotting a prospective customer, Paprika taps on the window to get his attention and mouths "D'you want to come inside?". Apparently, just opening the door and asking hasn't quite occurred to her.]

[N starts and turns to face her, staring owlishly for a moment. Was she beckoning him inside? Well... There isn't much he was planning on doing today. And he supposes he could go for some tea.

He moves to the door and opens it carefully, glancing around apprehensively.]

[Paprika rushes around to the door to greet him, grabbing a menu and presenting it to him upside-down with a smile that's much more eager than fetching in a manner befitting a maid.]

Hey, welcome! D'you want a seat outside or inside?

[He looks her over, seeming still a bit baffled.]
Oh-- Outside, please.

[She beams in response and grabs his arm a bit more chummishly than is strictly necessary, guiding him out to a sunny little patio.]

Go ahead and siddon down, make yourself comfy and stuff!

[He flinches slightly at the contact, but follows along anyway.]
Okay... [He hesitantly takes a seat and offers her a queasy smile.] Thank you.

[Whipping out a pad of paper and a pen festooned with heart decals out of the frilly depths of her apron, Paprika holds them up expectantly.]

D'you know what you want, or d'you need a sec to figure it out?

[He looks curiously at her pen for a moment.]
-- Oh. Ah. Green tea. [Naturally.]

And maybe... Hmm. [He glances over the menu.] An éclair? [He looks up at her questioningly as if to ask if his order isn't too much.]

[She jots his order down quickly in a large, semi-legible script and offers a ridiculously over-exaggerated wink and peace sign.]

Be back in just a sec with your tea!

[And off she goes.]

[Guess who is looking totally kawaii in his maid outfit, guys! ... He's also looking somewhat confused as he meanders around the cafe because how exactly does one make themselves seem alluring and cute?

Oh well-- He'll just wait for someone to get his attention and make an attempt.]

[ What is she even doing here? Seriously, she got an address very wrong or something. ]

[Ah, now there's a person that might just be a customer! He scampers over to Hazel and puts on a smile.]
Welcome home, Mistress! [So he says as he hands her a menu.]

[ Her brain is stalling now. She reflexively takes the menu and tries to stammer out a coherent response. ]

Huh? I don't think... Um... what?

Ah-- I said, "Welcome home", Mistress. [He blinks at her for a moment before the smile returns.] Forgive me, but you seem a bit lost, Mistress. You must have had a difficult day. [He touches her wrist and beckons toward the cafe.] Come this way! I'll take care of you.

[ She'll just follow because being assertive is not one of her strong points. ]

Yeah, lost... I was just looking for a tea shop...

[ If someone could sink into the floor from embarrassment she'd be six feet under by now. ]

Tea shop? Well, perhaps you aren't lost, then. We have all kind of tea!

[He leads her over to a table with a surprising amount of grace considering his platform shoes and his complicated dress. He pulls a chair out for her and gestures for her to take a seat.] And what flavor would you prefer, Mistress?

Well, um...

[ she kinda wants to say she was looking for a regular tea shop but, would that make him feel bad about his job here? She doesn't really want to do that. So she'll just sit down and try to remember a kind of tea she likes. ]

...do you have um, jasmine green tea?

Of course! [He's apparently overjoyed that she's ordered something.] Would you care for something else in addition, Mistress? An entrée? Or perhaps a dessert? [He thinks for a moment and adds enthusiastically:] I am here to serve you.

[ Her face is glued to the menu. She'd flee but, for some reason she thinks that would be even more embarrassing than staying for the tea... and a dessert. ]

Uh... maybe a slice of cheesecake.

[ She's reluctant to say anything but, being called Mistress is kinda creeping her out enough to do so anyway. ]

And um, could you not call me mistress? Just Hazel is okay.

Very well!

[He beams, but then looks a bit distressed by her request.] But I'm a maid. It is ritual. [He honestly doesn't understand the ritual either, but people usually seemed to enjoy being called "Master" or "Mistress". But if that's what she really wants, it would make more sense for him to obey, wouldn't it?] Ah... I'm sorry. I will do as you please, M--... Hazel. [He looks a bit flustered (oh geez is he going to be in trouble for breaking ritual?) as he leaves to get Hazel's order. Give him a few minutes!]

[ Now she's worried that her request might have been a horrible breach of some etiquette she's not aware of. She's frowning unhappily at the table now. ]

[It's apparently all good! He eventually returns looking calmer, carrying a tray with him.]
Your cheesecake. [He smiles and sets a plate in front of her. On it is... one of these. Hope you don't mind your cake being ridiculously kawaii, Hazel!

The next moment, he's pouring the tea for her into an already warmed cup. He bows his head slightly as he does so.] My apologies for my behavior. You are-- a bit different from the people I typically serve. [And he's still a bit new to this whole job.]

Thank you. Um... [ The cute dessert gives her a reason to force herself to be more comfortable. It's all just meant to be adorable. As long as he doesn't start flirting with her she'll be able to stick to that idea. ]

I-it's alright. I'm just... shy. [ And awkward. ]

{ He was only here because he liked the food. Yes, really. He'll just be ignoring how ridiculous he thinks the whole theme is. ]

[Air of HATING EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW aside, he's lookin' damn good in those coattails.]

[Aw, how cute.]

Welcome home, Master. Shall I see you to your seat?

[Emmet said... almost mockingly?] You look good in that. You should wear it more.

[Leading you to a table, still outwardly calm. But that tone earns an eyebrow raise.] I'll keep that in mind, Master.

What tea would you prefer this afternoon?

[Just to emphasize the point, she ruffles his hair a little, merrily oblivious to the fact that she's probably messing it up.]

Eleven! I'm eleven! [Gosh stop messing with my hair do you know how hard it is to get ready??? Pulling away, he crossed his arms.] And it's probably legal.

[She shrugs amicably.]

Same difference. But like, don't you have to be fifteen or something to do a real job?

[Not that sitting around in maid costumes waiting for customers to show up probably qualifies as "a real job".]
